Kaohsiung Hundred Pacers Host Four Team Tournament at Jung Shan University

Kaohsiung came out strong and dominated early in their first game, defeating Tainan B two to one in their first of three games on May 4th, 2003.  The four team mini tournament began a new chapter in Pacers History, as we played for the first time with a definite home pitch advantage, after recently signing a deal to rent Jung Shan University pitch for Pacer football.

Euan Sweet scored Kaohsiung's first from a brilliant give and go from Iowa Dave that ended up in the bottom left hand side of the net.  The first half ended with Kaohsiung dominating almost the entire half, controlling the ball well and utilizing a new plan to push the ball forward.  The fucking formation is working great! was heard from Iowa Dave.  Were dominating, stated Bull.

Alaskan Nick scored early in the second half off a rebound from a solid Shot from Kev Watson, whose return to Pacer football has had a positive impact on the squad.  Tainan B capitalized on a disputable free kick off a baldy foul just outside the box.  In his defense, he was called for fouling Tainan's female forward, and the Tainan referee may not have the same sense of gender equity that us more liberated men do.

Iowa Dave disagreed with a call late in the game, and failed to recognize a red card and refused to get off the field.  His winning charm caused him to not only to be flipped the bird by the angry official, but to be accosted by him as well after the game.

Tainan A soundly defeated Gangshan five to one in the second largest rout of the day, before Taiwan B narrowly squeaked by Gangshan two to one, scoring late in the second half with an unmemorable goal.

Tainan A handed Kaohsiung its only loss of the day in a hard fought two nil
contest.  Tainan's first goal was a beautiful volley from a defensive header just outside the box that hit the cross bar before going in.  Their second goal was off a free kick from a Pacer defensive foul.  Its always hard to lose to Tainan, newly appointed captain Adi Shard stated after the match, especially when were outplayed.  There were several good offensive rushes from Kaohsiung, including an incredible tackle, rush and cross by Euan, but we failed to capitalize on some strong offensive play.

Kaohsiung Hundred Pacers finished strong, defeating Gangshan nine to nil in the last match of the day.  The scoring was opened early by a delightful flick off a near post ball from Michael Bull O'Brien.  Iowa Dave landed a hard shot off the Gang Shan's keepers face that former captain Steve Dorward jumped on and deposited in the back of the net.  Bull ended the first half scoring, this time a header that ended a beautiful passing play, which almost every Pacer contributed to.

A flurry of goals marked the second half.  Alaskan Nick came off the bench and contributed two, one from the rebound of a good solid attempt by Kev, and another from a penalty kick.  Iowa Dave scored off a brilliant Irish Dave cross, and Tim scored one after a strong day playing keeper in three separate halves.  Euan scored again, and even English Bob scored in his second outing since our last visit to Tainan.

Tainan A must have played Tainan B sometime during the day, with Tainan A coming out winners by an unknown score line.
